Identifying character traits and supporting them with evidence from the text is an important skill for students to master. This graphic organizer guides students to identify traits/qualities of the characters they encounter as they read. They are instructed to list facts or information they discover about them as well as state any inferences they make. They then must support the trait, factoid, or inference by providing evidence from the text.
This graphic organizer can be used when reading a novel to identify and describe numerous characters, or also when reading a shorter piece of literature with fewer characters in order to describe characters in greater detail.
