This assignment is to create a well developed character. This can be used in Language Arts for character analysis, or in Drama when creating a believable backstory. Students love this assignment and sharing the characters they created.
Create a list of items that a character might have (Kleenex, nail clippers, sock with a hole in it, gum wrapper, etc.) Students choose two items out of a hat, and create a character using these 2 items as character influence. Why are they carrying these items? Why are they important to who the character is? What can we find out about the character by looking at these items? What is character backstory? Etc.
