This Courage resource is a month long unit taken from my Entire Year: Character Education Kit. I love using these materials because it allows you to directly teach important character traits in an active, motivating format. This unit focuses on the trait of Courage but there are 10 other units in the Character Education Kit, including Caring, Respect, Responsibility, Citizenship, Fairness, Giving, Gratitude, Perseverance, Self-Discipline, and Trustworthiness.
Here’s what is included in this month long unit:
Character Traits List with Definitions
2 Character Traits Posters (One colorful and one black and white)
2 Character Awards (One colorful and one black and white)
Mentor Texts List (lots of books that teach Courage lessons)
Self-Reflection Quiz (Kids can privately assess how they are doing with this character trait)
Activity Pages (Comprehension Questions for When Harriet Tubman Led Her People to Freedom by Carole Boston Weatherford, as well as several art projects focusing on courage)
32 Discussion Task Cards (Lots of questions and scenarios you can use for great class discussions)
Detailed Teacher Notes
I love including Character Education in my classroom and find it leads to better classroom behavior, while promoting a safe, accepting classroom atmosphere. Not only will you see the benefits in your classroom though, you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you are teaching to the heart, as well as to the head. Helping our students grow socially and emotionally can reap lifelong benefits.
If you like this resource, I would really recommend purchasing the entire bundle as I think you’ll find the year long program beneficial. Plus, the bundle is offered at a greatly reduced (50% off) price.
ENTIRE YEAR: CHARACTER EDUCATION KIT
If you'd like to try a month for free, here's a Character Education Caring Kit Freebie!
If you would like to see the other 10 Character Trait resources separately, here they are:
Also, while each character trait kit is a single license purchase, you might want to share this resource with your principal to see if he/she would like to get a school license at a discounted price (email me at firstname.lastname@example.org). It is so much more powerful if the whole school is teaching the same character traits and especially if they are teaching them at the same time.
I have used these materials for many years with my classes and feel confident that you’ll enjoy using them too. This is one resource that I’m extra excited to share with you.
Finally, if you like my work, I would love for you to follow me by clicking on the green star above.
Thanks so much!
