This character map that I created called a "Character Cake", is a unique and simplified way of introducing character maps to an ECE class.
1. Since we all know that frosting is the most important part of the cake, the two sections of frosting are for the student to think of two important facts about the character to write.
2. We know that the cake is under or inside the frosting, so these two sections are labeled as the character's feelings and actions; to get the kids to think about how the character may feel inside or act.
3. Candles are usually just for appearance. Therefore they are labeled as the character's name and appearance. In the appearance section, they can list an adjective or two about the character's appearance.
4. The cake plate is where the book title should be written as the foundation.
