Description

As part of the prewriting stage of the writing process for creative writing pieces, I provide my students with this character profile activity to help them generate and organize ideas for the characterization of their main character. I have found that students tend to become more invested in their characters after really “getting to know them” through the creation of this profile, and therefore take more pride in their writing.

This resource includes a teacher's guide, student assignment handout, character traits list, example character profile, character profile for student use, and a character profile conferencing sheet for teacher feedback.

The link for the Google Slides version of this resource is on page 3 of the PDF. Click this link and you will be prompted to make a copy of the resource to your Google Drive. The Google Slides version has editable text box overlays on the character profile and conferencing sheet so students can fill these in digitally.
