Product Description
So many students are using sites like Myspace. In order to get students excited about the characters I created a page called characterspace. This is a take off on the Myspace format where students make profile pages for the characters. As in Myspace there is also a place for other characters from the story to leave comments. This lesson also helped students make inferences about the characters because it often doesn't tell what the character's favorite book is. For example "Winnie the Pooh's" favorite book would probably be about honey. I have also included a sample page about April from the book "Egypt Game" Students were expected to work on this while reading the book. They really thought about who the characters are and what made them tick. Students are also expected to draw pictures of the characters and add color and pictures to the background. Although many students are not even old enough to be on Myspace they have profiles. I think it is important to embrace new technologies and web sites our students use every day in order to motivate them!
