Are your students bored with collecting textual evidence? With this lesson, they won't even realize they are doing it! This lesson can be adapted for any story or novel. It asks students to find textual evidence about character development in a unique and creative way. In this lesson, they are asked to construct a tie with quotations from a story that reveal different aspects of the protagonist's character. They are then asked to analyze the protagonist based on the textual evidence they have collected. The kit includes a character chart, writing assignment, tie template, and grading checklist.
