I use this powerpoint to go along with the sheets that I created which is also available for purchase. I project it on my smart board so students can follow along easily. Students use the text evidence chart in a communicator (clear plastic covering) with a dry erase marker to limit the number of copies that need to be made. I also provide a copy of the status check/rubric for each student so they can evaluate themselves while they are working.
Common Core Content Standards:
3.RL.1- Ask and answer questions to demonstrate understanding of a text referring explicitly and when drawing inferences from the text.
4.RL.1- Refer to details and examples in a text when explaining what the text says explicitly and when drawing inferences from the text.
Students will be asked to read a passage and then answer a few questions. They will need to provide text evidence in order to identify the character trait of the person in the short story. This will not only help them better comprehend what they are reading but it will also help them be more prepared for standardized testing.
