Teaching character traits can be difficult because students need to have a basic knowledge of the traits and be able to infer. Oftentimes I had a list for students to refer to but many of them did not know what the word meant. I also tried posters but did not have enough room for everything I wanted to put up.
My solution – Character Trait Rings
! These rings have over 200 traits with definitions and synonyms separated into “positive” and “negative” categories. Use as many or as little as you want. These rings help students get to know and understand different character traits – it also builds their vocabulary!
—print rings out for each student
—print some sets out to use in small groups
—print a few sets to hang on the bulletin board so students can access as needed
