Looking for a way to blend the election into your curriculum seamlessly? You’ve found it! This activity provides your students with the opportunity to think about what THEY really want to see in the next POTUS.
In my 3rd grade class, we are always discussing character traits. This reading skill extends far beyond the books we read in class, as it serves as a building block for character education as a whole. Students read stories and get the feel for characters; they begin to realize what makes a character kind, compassionate and hard-working…. they also realize what makes characters seem mean, cruel and selfish. Thanks to the many amazing pieces of literature that provide our students with examples of character traits, we are able to identify those traits in ourselves and the people around us.
So, what do your students want to see in our next President?!
This activity benefits from a class discussion about the roles and responsibilities of the President. Your students will need background information about how important the President’s job is, and what it takes to be the POTUS.
