This character trait worksheet uses cute movie graphics to grab your students' attention. All kids know movies have characters, so it makes for an easy comparison. On this sheet, students will write their book title and then pick a character from the book to evaluate. They will decide on two character traits (a few are listed on the sheet as examples, but more can be discussed in class). They must not only write down the trait, but they need to provide evidence from the story to prove the trait. In addition, students will tell about two events that happened in the book which included the character, they are asked if the character would make a good friend and to explain their reasons, and they will need to explain who in their life the character reminds them of and why. Lastly, they will sketch a scene from the book that involves the character and explains what is happening in the scene. This sheet can be used during readers workshop as an individual reader project, as a book report, or simply as a lesson on character traits.
