PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

*This character trait writing project can be used for any book and or character, but this project gives examples using the books, Fancy Nancy and David Goes to School.

*This project begins by reading aloud the two character books that you want to focus on--in this case, Fancy Nancy and David Goes to School.

*A list of character traits is then provided for students to highlight to identify character traits for his/her character.

*Students then are given a character map to identify the character's problem, how the character solved the main problem, a box to list character traits for that particular character and a box to do a rough sketch of the character.

*After completion of the character map, a sample summary paragraph is provided to model for students. Students then write their own summary paragraphs.

*Next, a sample paragraph for character traits exhibited by the character is provided. Students then write their own short paragraphs for their character.

*After completion of the writing portion of the project, the students create portraits of the characters.

Have fun! The kids had a blast with this project!
