This unit is focused on the CCSS standard RL2.3. It also begins to address RL3.3. Even if you do not teach Common Core, this should still be helpful to use to teach students about character traits and feelings. It addresses how characters respond to events and how character traits effect the events in the story. Students review character traits and character feelings. There are practice activities to help them see that character traits effect how a character responds to an event. There are also activities helping them see how an event might have turned out differently if the character had different traits or feelings. In a later lesson students use what they have learned about opinion to write an alternative ending to a short story and then plan and write their own version of Cinderella based on character traits.
