This Venn diagram interactive notes page is designed to teach students the different characteristics of the Earth, Moon and Sun. After students have been given information about the Earth, Moon and Sun by means of direct teach or student-lead research, they will cut out the attribute cards and correctly place them on their Venn diagram. This could also be done as the direct teach or research is being done. The diagram helps them see the differences and similarities between the three objects. The diagram can be folded to fit nicely in an interactive science notebook. The attribute cards can either be stored in an envelope in the student’s science notebook for later practice/review or they can be permanently glued on the Venn diagram as a reference/notes page.
This could also be used as a manipulative sort activity by making several laminated Venn diagram boards and laminated sets of attribute cards. Pairs of students would then sort the attribute cards onto the correct location on the Venn diagram board. Either way you use it, it is a great activity for teaching students about the characteristics of the Earth, Moon and Sun
