This PowerPoint outlines the elements of fantasy and dystopian literature. It can be used in a pre-reading lesson to help students understand the characteristics of these two genres. I have included visuals from popular films to help students understand and to make connections. After finishing a story, you might like to return to the PowerPoint slide deck and ask students to give examples of the dystopian or fantasy elements using the text just read.
Note: I have uploaded this as a pptx file so that teachers can alter the slides to match their current unit.
