This document includes my lesson plan, a student packet, vocabulary words, and pictures needed for different stations.
Students work collaboratively to:
-analyze pictures to identify the characteristic of life.
-distinguish between vocabulary to identify related vocabulary (i.e.-reproduction: sexual and asexual).
-provide a specific example of an organism doing the characteristic of life.
-Identify statements as each characteristic of life (Note: Statements are higher level and a review of content related to different Life Science concepts. i.e.-A cladogram shows that species have a common ancestor=heredity and evolution.) *Note: Two characteristics of life (homeostasis and responds to the environment) are not used in the chart and students must identify which two they are and provide an additional example of those two characteristics.
This activity can take students anywhere from two to three 45 minute class sessions.
Print pictures for each station (preferably in color).
Cut up one copy of the vocabulary words and definitions for each station.
