This is a simple project I use during the "Living Things" unit for my middle school science students. It can be easily modified to increase difficulty or lower difficulty. Students select a living thing to research focusing on its necessities for survival, how and where it survives. They will then turn this research into a written response and picture of the organism.
Through this, students can a better understanding of the variety of living things, their needs and their characteristics
