Product Description
This characterization activity goes along with the story, The Fabulous Friend Machine by Nick Bland, which is featured on my Techie Picture Books List since it addresses the digital citizenship topics of online safety & stranger danger. It also makes a great mentor text for teaching characterization.

Both a PDF of printables and a folder of jpeg images are provided in this download.

The PDF printables can be used as an educational, UNPLUGGED lesson for technology teachers when digital devices are being used for testing or when the wifi is down. Classroom teachers can use this resource to cover characterization and online safety all in one lesson!

I have also included a folder of jpeg images for teachers who would rather use this resource in Google Slides, PowerPoint, Seesaw, Classkick, PicCollage, etc. (Directions for how to do this are not included) which can be used with Chromebooks, laptops, computers or iPads.

What is included?

• Page 1: cover
• Page 2: link to The Fabulous Friend Machine book on Amazon
• Page 3: link to Dropbox folder of jpeg images
• Page 4: Characterization definition sign/poster
• Page 5: Direct Characterization definition sign/poster
• Page 6: Indirect Characterization definition sign/poster
• Page 7: Characters graphic organizer to be completed during reading
• Page 8-10: Characterization chart for each character to be completed after reading

You can read all about how to use this resource in THIS blog post. (Will go LIVE at 6 am EST on Friday, April 6th). This post is a part of The Reading Crew's Spring Mentor Text Hop and Giveaway. Head over to enter to WIN a mini iPad or one of several gift cards.
