Product Description
This ELA 6th, 7th, and 8th grade resource will help your students as they begin to understand characterization and write an analytical essay. These resources can be used to teach, practice, and finally, write about characterization in fiction. The resource includes fill-in-the-blank notes with a key, a dialectical journal with the steps included that can work with any fictional text, an outline for a character analysis essay, and a skeleton essay. I used the outline for most of my 7th grade students, and gave the skeleton to those who were struggling to see how each sentence connected to the next. Addressed TEKS Fig. 19D (Inference), 6.6B, 7.6B, and 8.6B
