This resource focuses on the skill of character analysis, through a close reading of the short story, "The Interlopers" by H.R. Munroe. This resource does NOT include a copy of the short story, however it is available at: http://www.horrormasters.com/Text/a1262.pdf - as well as many other sites on the internet through a simple google search.
The resource challenges students to apply skills of character identification (protagonist, antagonist, secondary, marginal), as well as character type (static or dynamic). The resource also asks students to analyze character construction based on evidence from the text, including: character descriptions, character dialogue and character actions. Finally, students are asked to write character analysis paragraphs.
This resource does NOT include an answer sheet, but it DOES include a rubric that can be used for either formative or evaluative feedback.
