Product Description
Studio C does a lot of comedy sketches and some are a lot of fun to bring into the classroom. I've used this skit / scene to reinforce the elements of Indirect Characterization using the acronym STEAL (Speech, Thoughts and feelings, Effects on Others, Actions, and Looks (gestures and clothings). My students thought it was amusing though many had pointed observations of Star's character. I had them see (without any sound) the scene first, to notice her Looks (clothing, etc., gestures) and Actions (larger movements on the stage). Then we saw it again with sound to focus in on her Speech and Effects on Others. Her Thoughts and feelings can be inferred from her Speech and other attributes. A full two-page script is provided here; one page is included in the Preview.
