Product Description

Upper level lessons - Unit contains 4 lessons all focusing on charitable events in the Deaf community. Lessons are designed for communication and are PBL (project based learning). Unit will last 10 - 12 days or longer if you incorporate the extended learning activities. Work is for level 3/4 students and can be used for sub plans or independent learning.

Lesson 1 - Identifying Needs

Lesson 2 - Organizations that support the Deaf community

Lesson 3 - Fundraising

Lesson 4 - Website Design

1 - IPA Assessment

All the lesson in this unit have instructions for the teacher and a hyperlink to the student project sheet. Student project sheets contain step by step instruction of what students need to accomplish. They can be projected, pushed out in digital form (Google Classroom) or printed and given to students. If printing, students will need the links to articles and/or videos.

The first page describes the unit and gives an overview of what should be expected. There is a short vocabulary list, however, the list will increase as students begin to discuss and come up with vocabulary and concepts they get stuck on and the classroom discussions that take place. This is where it is a good idea for students to keep a list of words, concepts and phrases they don’t know how to communicate so you, the teacher, can help them discover the accurate way to convey meaning.

Any activity can be deleted, expanded on or shortened depending on the time you have in your planning schedule. Most activities, if not all, will have an extended activity that goes with it to offer extra support and ideas to you.
