I love using computer simulations and games in my classroom but I find that if students don't have some type of accompanying worksheet they often breeze through the assignment and miss the objective. I have created a number of student guides to provide teachers with evidence of student learning as well as analysis questions that are designed to deepen student thought and assist with classroom discussion. This assignment is student centered and after a brief explanation students will be working independently and with purpose.
This worksheet is a companion to the Charles Darwin Game of Evolution online simulation that can be found at the following link.
It both walks students through the simulation and includes analysis questions that provide evidence of student comprehension of the Next Generation Science Standard MS-LS4-4
MS-LS4-4 Construct an explanation based on evidence that describes how genetic variations of traits in a population increase some individuals’ probability of surviving and reproducing in a specific environment.
