The Common Core standards for social studies ask students to determine the central ideas of primary sources, identify the key steps of a historical event, and analyze primary sources in conjunction with a secondary source on the same subject. The following lesson accomplishes all three while teaching students about Charles Lindbergh. Included is a lesson plan, three sources about the event (in Lindbergh's words, a newspaper article, and a secondary source), questions, answers, and ideas for extensions. Student and Common Core approved!
