This is a full-text copy of the story "Charles" by Shirley Jackson. What is different about this copy however, is that it includes a number of questions peppered throughout the story to encourage students to stop and think about what's happening as it's happening.
In my classroom, I read the story out to students and we stop as a group to answer the questions and annotate the text as we're going. Thus, this can be a great introduction to annotating text. Making a copy that you can annotate yourself on a projector can be excellent modelling for students who are unsure about what to write down on their own text.
