Anything with Charlie Brown is an excellent resource for the ESL classroom! I designed these activities with adult English learners in mind, but they could also be used in a high school setting. Combining vocabulary and a fun video is a recipe for a great class!
“It’s Arbor Day, Charlie Brown” is a Special Feature on the “It’s the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown” DVD. I have a lesson plan for the Easter episode in my store as well!
The vocabulary is divided into three groups with seven words in each group: Arbor Day, Baseball, and Garden. After explaining the meanings of these words, use the vocabulary to complete:
1. 8 Matching the vocabulary with a picture
2. 5 Matching the words to a similar meaning
3. 7 True/False questions
4. 7 Baseball words in a Cloze reading
5. 5 Post-viewing questions
*Note: All Charlie Brown videos come with subtitles! You can also change the language AND the subtitle language! This is especially helpful in an ESL (or a foreign language) classroom.
