Description
What could be better than spending a whole week using a story about a chocolate factory to teach the common core standards?! This sweet literacy unit focuses on character analysis, character traits, story elements, and story structure using the classic children's book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. It includes printables to cover each of these comprehension strategies and anchor chart examples. A writing activity is included for each day of the 5-day unit, including poetry, narratives, and a how-to essay. Some of the writing activities incorporate art. ABC order, Read the Room for ch- words, and making words from chocolate printables are included. A comprehension test closes the unit at the end of the week.
