“Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Writing Journal” is a journal for students to write in while reading the book by Roald Dahl. There are 25 writing prompts for 30 chapters. Five of the chapters do not have a writing prompt. The 25 writing prompts include character descriptions, setting descriptions, imagination stations, problem VS. solutions, chapter summaries, and feelings.
In my classroom, I read the students a chapter out of the book. I then have an in-depth discussion about the writing prompt and my expectations for the prompt. The students then begin to write. My students have loved these prompts. It turns Charlie and the Chocolate Factory into a book study while covering many of the standards rather than just a simple read-aloud. Enjoy!
