After reading Charlotte's Web with my ESL class I need a way to see what they had understood but did not want to give them a traditional test as it was the end of the school year and they were taking all kinds of other tests. I came up with this project for them to do instead.
Students are given the tic-tac-toe board with options of activities that with will have to complete. All students are required to do the middle activity but get to choose the other 2 activities that they want to do by drawing a line vertically, horizontally, or diagonally (their line must go through the center square). Once students have picked the activities that they want to do,you can provide them with the specific instructions for the activities that they picked.
Students will have to do a speaking assignment, and writing assignment (these are the ones they get to pick). The middle square asks students to create a cartoon that shows the important events in the story.
