At the end of the year, my students (grades 3-5) have always watched Charlotte's Web. I created this activity booklet to align this unit with Common Core Standards. Students will analyze the setting of the movie, assign character traits & provide supporting details, evaluate character actions and determine how they led to Wilbur being saved, sequence the main events in the movie, draw conclusions about character feelings, and determine the meaning of phrases. I then create webs for each student, using black paper and chalk. Then on each web, I write a special word that describes the student, just as Charlotte did in the movie. Finally, I attach a note to the back of the paper explaining what the word means and why I chose the word for the student. For example: Damian, your word is faithful. This means: true to one's word, promises, and vows. It also means: full of faith, reliable, trusted, and believed. Thank you for being someone who is trustworthy and a person we all can believe in. Please remember how special you are.
