Anyone can teach computer coding with this Saint Patrick's Day themed, unplugged computer science lesson. This digital download includes a Google Slides that includes a teacher mini lesson focused on algorithms. The Google Slides will walk you and your students through:
*What is an algorithim
*Creating an algorithm for a Saint Patrick's Day themed story
*Finding examples of algorithms in our everyday lives

Students will then apply what they have learned about algorithms by working with a partner to create their own algorithm. Students will use a small cup of Lucky Charms cereal and game board pieces to create a game board. Then,they will use coding symbols, similar to those found in basic block coding, to navigate Liam the Leprechaun to a pot of gold, avoiding robbers along the way!

Then, partners switching papers and attempting to correctly replicate the game board based on the algorithm their partner has coded.

The lesson ends with a debriefing about algorithms.
