Lesson 9: Inequalities
A Cheat Sheet is an all-in-one, single-page graphic organizer covering the big topics in the Algebra 1 curriculum. Each Cheat Sheet includes important vocabulary, key concepts, and guided examples. There is a set of Practice Problems included with each sheet that provides leveled and skill-based practice. Included in the download is a PDF and editable WORD version of the Cheat Sheet and Practice Problems, along with a full answer key.
This lesson focuses on inequalities and begins with activities on graphing inequalities on number lines. In keeping with the same format as the equations lesson, students will complete examples on solving one-step, two-step, and multi-step inequalities. The lesson ends with a review of translating words into inequalities and vice versa. The Practice Problems correspond to the Cheat Sheet with several processing exercises after each section is taught. The exercises increase in difficulty as the problems progress, giving students lots of practice with “flipping the inequality sign” for negative multiplication and division operations.
