Check In/Check Out is a behavior intervention used with students that need assistance identifying emotions and developing coping strategies to handle various emotions throughout the day. A student is matched with a mentor/teacher and checks in the morning to identify emotions and checks out in the afternoon to discuss how the day went and identify the emotions in the afternoon. This intervention allows students to bond with a trusted adult and allows the mentor/teacher to identify any patterns in behavior, as well as, teach the student appropriate behaviors for each emotion.
