"Checking Out Algebra!" is my introduction to the school year in Geometry. Throughout the course, there are certain algebraic topics the students will have to recall and apply within Geometry problems (factoring, solving systems of equations, slopes, simplifying radicals, solving multi-step equations). This activity will be the first thing my students complete this school year and remain at the front of their binder for reference.
Not only are they asked to solve the 6 problems, but they must explain how their answer can be checked. Knowing how to check work is such an essential math skill that I want to reinforce from Day 1!
This activity can 100% be used as a general Algebra review outside of a Geometry course.
Answer key is included.
