Checking for Understanding and Classroom management cards for students includes one page of hand signals on small cards.
When you are working with small groups, it is a great way for students to communicate with you what they need with almost no words exchanged.
Checking for Understanding cards are small cards that students can tape to their desk, inside a folder, etc... As students are working they can place a counter, unifix cube, or just point to let you know how they are feeling about an assignment or project.
The cards included are in color and also with smiley faces depending on the student needs. (and a color printer!)
Another set of cards are in the form of a traffic light. Students can color them red, yellow, green. There is one large one and smaller size. If you use the large traffic sign, a clothes pin can be placed by the student to show their level of understanding.
The last set of small cards can be used to remind students of voice levels. They are color coded red: screaming-emergency only, orange:outside voice-recess, Yellow: Classroom Voice, Blue: whisper, and Green: Silent. The cards are also small enough that they fit on the back of my ID badge. Just having it on my badge and readily available generates a lot of conversation about voice levels and checking for understanding. :)
