I teach my students to include the same basic elements across the different types of writing. We include a topic sentence, 3 details, and a conclusion in all of our formal writing. This basic form of a five-sentence paragraph is where we begin each fall, and then we add other elements later for Narrative, Informative, Opinion, and Letter Writing.
Included in this product:
First, there is a checklist with more detailed descriptions of the expectations.
Second, I simplified the expectations for the earlier readers. My less eager readers can get overwhelmed by all of the words, so I underlined the most important words and cut as many words as possible.
Both versions of the checklist are included in black and white (for easy copying) and color (especially good for those who plan to make a class set and laminate them).
Both versions are designed and included in four styles: for the writer, one partner (peer editor), two partners (peer editors), and the teacher.
