This is a game to use following a lesson on Checks and Balances. I had my students take notes on the different checks each branch can make, and then allowed them to use their note sheet to help them with the game. Within the game, there are multiple scenarios in which a branch can check another. For each scenario students will have; a role that relates to one of the three branches of government, a problem, and a job in which they will have to determine how their branch of government can check another.
Students will need chrome books or their own personal devices to play the game using the Pear Deck features. Also, you will you will need to have the Pear Deck feature added onto your google account. You can do this by going to “Add-on” and scrolling down to “Get Add-On” and then searching for Pear Deck. Follow the instructions for downloading Pear Deck.
If you do not wish to use the Pear Deck feature you can still play the game in slideshow mode and have the students record their responses on paper or in way that works for your classroom.
