PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

In this lab, students mix an "unknown liquid substance" (red cabbage juice) with various household products (sugar, baking soda, etc.) to determine whether a chemical change occurred based on a change in color. The scientific reason for the color change is that red cabbage juice is a natural pH indicator that will change the color of a substance based on the pH. To make the cabbage juice, just boil red cabbage for about 10 minutes. This lab includes all steps of the scientific method, along with a full rubric for assessment.
