This activity was designed to have student identify fundamentals and patterns as they relate to the five main reaction types. Students critical thinking stills are developed as they must create steps that would allow someone to identify the reaction type. Practice problems are included that allow students to practice their new knowledge and provide justification on their thought process. The activity finishes with students creating a flow chart to organize all their new understanding. Extension activity ideas are also included. This activity can be expedited for use in one class period with additional homework time or can be expanded to utilize 3-4 class periods.
