Chemistry for Dummies Assignment
The “Dummies” brand is an extremely popular How-To Help instructional book line. The topics range from Gardening to Quantum Mechanics where all sorts of topics are covered. The books are written in a language that common layman people can understand and have many visuals to show the concepts.
This is how I introduce the assignment:
Your task for this assignment (Select only 1 from the following to do)
Is to write an instructional booklet about sections of this unit.
Create an instructional video about the sections of the unit.
Is to create a playable board game about the sections of the unit.
A short music video with proper lyrics about the sections of the unit
A comic book about the sections of the unit
Choose 5 out of the 6 topics from the list below and transform them into your OWN Chemistry for Dummies. The “NOT OPTIONAL” ones must be completed. It cannot be copied and paste and must be written in your own words
Here are the topics:
Introduction of the atom – *NOT OPTIONAL*
What is it?
What are the components of an atom? Where are they located?
What does each of the components tell you?
Topic 1: What is the periodic table?
What is it? Who invented it?
What information can you gain from the periodic table?
How is it arranged?
Topic 2: Different families of the periodic table
What are they?
What makes them different than other families?

Topic 3: Covalent and ionic bonding and naming compounds
Describe each type of bonding
Give examples of each type (visual examples)
Describe how to name them (with polyatomic ions, transition metals and covalent bonds)
Topic 4: Law of Conservation of Mass
What is it?
Provide a real life example of what it is.
Balancing equations – how do you do them?
Topic 5: Types of reactions
What are the 5 types of reactions?
What are some examples of each? Provide a real life experiment that shows 1 of the 5 different types
Make up an analogy/example of the 5 different types of reactions?
Topic 6: Acids and bases
What are acids and bases?
What are some examples of acids and bases?
What type of reaction is involved in an acid and base reaction?
