This is a version of the lab report rubric to grade formal lab reports written according to the lab report format I show them. I have this in front of me as a reference as I grade reports to allow me to show consistency while grading reports – especially when taking more than one sitting to complete the grading process. This is also given to the students so they know what I will be looking for as I grade their reports.
The number format for the grades are skewed a little to show the grading scale used by my district. The far right column is set for a minimum of 85% and the middle column at 65%. This is done so the middle column (Meets Standards) is at least at a passing score and the students striving for higher letter grades should go for the Above Standards column. Students in the Below Standards column would not receive a passing score for that section according to the manner the rubric is written.
