This Unit/lesson bundle contains READY-TO-TEACH and EDITABLE Smart Notebook based Lessons and all the handouts you need to teach titrations from beginning to end.
It provides all the lesson materials needed for teaching titrations through a real world investigation with experiences in the field, the chemistry lab, and computer lab.
Students are first taught the basics of titrations and undergo an introductory lab experience with titrations. Then they are presented with a letter from a company asking for their help, conduct an investigation, and report back their findings. The content and lab work is appropriate for a high school chemistry class after having covered stoichiometry and solutions, and has been tried and tested successfully for years as a way to introduce titrations and provide a comprehensive formal investigation.
WHAT DO I NEED?
The Unit/Lesson-bundle and each of lessons within the unit are self-sufficient, with built-in interactivity and hyperlinks. They are designed, by necessity, to be ready for the experienced teacher to teach and reteach after only a brief pre-class viewing. Smart software and an interactive whiteboard/projector/touchscreen are required in order to effectively deliver the lessons. The following standard Chemistry Equipment and materials are needed: Balance with at least 0.00 g precision, Burets, 10 mL pipets, Beakers, 1M NaOH, 1M HCl, Phenopthalien, Mortar and Pestals. Optional but helpful materials include distilled water, glass stir rods, evaporating dishes, drying oven. In addition students must either collect shell samples or be provided with egg samples.
