Being able to prepare solutions is a key skill in applied chemistry courses.
This editable PowerPoint and matching notes page (a Word document) walks students through the method and calculations involved in creating a standard solution (or a stock solution) for a desired molarity. Ideal for pre-teaching the procedure before attempting it in a lab, or reviewing the procedure after a practical activity. The PowerPoint includes a step-by-step solution of a sample problem, and two additional practice problems (answers to the practice problems are included in the PowerPoint notes). The final slide is set for you to enter practice or homework instructions.
