PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Various amounts of potassium nitrate are heated to the same temperature and allowed to cool. The temperature when crystals form in each amount is recorded and a solubility curve is constructed. The curve is then used to determine the solubility of KNO3 at different temperatures. The terms unsaturated, saturated and supersaturated are discussed.

The pages are designed so that students record data, graph and answer questions on the sheets. This allows the lab to be completed in one period and also makes marking or review much simpler.

This is a hands-on activity with fairly cheap and easy to find materials.

Sorry, no answer key because each student will have a slightly different graph.
