This is a triangular shaped Element puzzle—now with 4 different versions of different difficulties!
The skills needed for this assignment are:
a. Finding atomic number, atomic mass, atomic symbol, and atomic name.
b. Computing the number of neutrons.
c. Being aware of the latin names for some of the elements (ones with different symbols from their names only; ex. ferrium, natrium).
d. Being aware of what the most abundant element in the universe is (hydrogen)
e. Basic knowledge of how reactive an element is (groups 1 and 17 being most, 18 least)
f. Knowing the alkali metals name
Make enough copies so each pair/group gets one.
Cut the “Mixed Up” copies—this way students can’t try to guess by matching how the pieces are cut. This also mean you can get the students to cut them without letting them onto the answers.
Notice there are 4 different copies—from easy to most difficult. They are varied with two different changes: with or without detractors on the outside edges and ones that show the orientation with an arrow pointing up.
