This engaging unit will get students excited about the Chesapeake Bay and motivated to make a difference! The first few pages of the unit list the NGSS Standards met in grades 3-5 (focuses on Earth & Life Science). It is broken into sections:
Water in the Bay - students will learn about the Water Cycle, about the Chesapeake Bay, and how the Bay is impacted by the flow of water
Life in the Bay - students will learn about the animals that live in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed, how they have adapted to survive, how they depend on each other, and how to classify these animals
The final section is about saving the Bay from pollution due to people & the weathering process with a PBL Outdoor Learning Activity and STEM Project.
A complete unit of resources that includes:
- hands-on Science experiments & labs
- reading passages w/comprehension questions
- differentiated projects
- interactive notebook foldables
- STEM activities
- a PBL project to apply material (ties to outdoor classroom learning)
- vocabulary cards for bulletin boards
- answer keys & rubrics
- and so much more!
Lesson Plans are not included so that you can choose how and when to use these resources. I do however include many Teacher Guides that suggest how you can use the experiments & activities.
I have used this unit every year with my own 4th grade students and they absolutely love it! I am sure that your students will too :)
