Musical theory made fun!! This Star Wars themed game allows students to practice their musical notation and rhythm names in a fun and interactive way. Chewbacca brings students along on an adventure, allowing them to progress is they answer game cards correctly, but giving them obstacles if they don’t! Game includes 29 game cards (includes rhythm names as well as treble and bass clef notes), 9 “Oops!” cards, 4 game pieces, an answer sheet and instructions.
You can print multiple copies and have students play in small groups, or you can play as a class by having multiple copies of the game board and divide the class into teams that can move their own piece on their own board while you draw game and oops cards for each team!
This game mirrors Ontario musical curriculum for all ages, as even the Grade 1 curriculum requires students to recognize that music can be represented with symbols. The earlier students start with musical notation, the more cemented it will be for them when they begin playing instruments, so this game is perfect for almost all elementary grades! Have a child at home starting piano lessons? This game if perfect for you as well! Learn along with your child so you can provide them with some help while practicing!
