1 + 1 = .....1? It does when you are teaching contractions!
We know that games are one of the most effective ways to practice skills. This kit contains 3 engaging and motivating games to practice and reinforce contraction-making and contraction root word skills.
All three games are in one full color .pdf file. Each contains:
prep and playing directions
Common Core State Standards for gr. 1-2
Instructional poster for students
all game boards and pieces needed
1. Chicks and Eggs Contraction Game
In this matching game, students pull a chick or egg shell half out of a bag. They try to find the remaining matching pieces to the set. This game also comes with a printable matching activity.
2. Chicken Feed
This is a sorting game. There are four sorting cards with contractions on them. Students must feed the chicks on the cards with corn; the corn has root words that must match the contractions. When completed, each card will have matching chicks and feed.
3. Chicks Go Home game
Help your chick make it's way home. You can only move spaces by correctly identifying a contraction or the root words. There are two types of cards, one with contractions and one with root words.
