: This is NOT a lab guide/ incubation guide, but simply a recording booklet for your existing chicken hatching experience. If you'd like to find out more about hatching eggs (which is my absolute favorite thing we do in my classroom!), contact your local 4-H, your nearest poultry science university, or google to find the abundance of PDF's available for free online!
Be sure to review the preview to ensure the lab aligns with your equipment. The lab uses a DIY candler to view inside eggs and a simple classroom balance scale to track the growing chick's weight. (If you don't have a commercially made egg candler, they can be a quick DIY with black construction paper and a flashlight.)
Also note: If using this journal with Pre-K students, it will work best in small groups of 4-5 at a time.
I'm so excited to share one of my favorite activities with you! I hope you and your students enjoy it as much as I do!
