This adaptive book is based on children's favorite "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" by Bill Martin, Jr. It is appropriate for special needs students of various ages, but may be of particular interest to special needs toddlers and preschoolers. May be used as part of a "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" unit study or as part of a one-time speech, occupational, or ABA therapy session. We recommend pairing the book with a related sensory or gross motor activity.
Print file and laminate each page individually. Use a three-hole punch to punch holes along the left-hand side of the book. Tie pages together with a short piece of string or yarn. (Don't tie pages too tightly or they will not turn easily.) Adhere Velcro dots over the right-hand letter on each page. Cut alphabet cards and store in a bag or box for using with the book. (You may also print and laminate two copies of the alphabet cards and use one copy as a "glossary" to store your cut-out cards.)
